World War I Memorial
The cannons were from the Fort Walla Walla which was still an active fort and used in France during the war. Three cannons were shipped back to Walla Walla, Washington where they stood for many years. One was scraped out during a metal drive during World War II. A group of citizens had the cannons refinished and placed at the now decommissioned fort which is now the Wainwrights VA Hospital.
