The monument is located on the Clinton (NY) Village Green. It is maintained by the Village of Clinton. A wreath is placed by the monument during the annual Memorial Day ceremony by representatives of the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232 and the Schilling-Burns-Young Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9591 in Clinton. The purpose of the monument is inscribed thereon: “In commemoration of the sacrifice and service of the sons of the Town of Kirkland who participated in the World War 1914-1918.” At the bottom of the plaque is a Greek phrase, when translated means: "It is a beautiful thing for a good man to die for his country fighting in the foremost ranks of her defenders."
