Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park
The Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park, located near the center of Eatonton, Georgia, is a 15,500 square foot park built by Wesley Lee Farley American Legion Post 583 and Carter-Hutchins Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6686. The first phase of construction was dedicated on November 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with the second phase expansion dedicated on Veterans Day 2015 that doubled the size of the park. The Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park contains six large walls bearing almost 1,800 brick tiles for inscription of the names, branch of service, and dates of service of individual Putnam County veterans. The head wall is 10 foot high x 27 foot long bearing the words: “Putnam County Veterans Wall of Honor Park,” with the crests of the five Armed Forces. The park is lit with both spotlights and soft solar-post lights. It has several park benches and ten flag poles. An 800 square foot covered pavilion abuts with six picnic-style tables with benches, an additional nine park benches, and solar lights. There currently are 1,754 names engraved on the tiles affixed to the six Honor Walls. Our Putnam County military has served from the American Revolutionary War to the present in countries all over the world or at stateside posts.
