Purple Heart Plaque
The Georgetown City Council approved a resolution on September 13, 2013, designating the City of Georgetown as a “Purple Heart City” and a proclamation was presented on September 24, 2013. As part of the VFW Park renovation, a Purple Heart plaque was installed. The plaque reads, "Presented April 6, 2017 by the pepole of Georgetown in honor of those Georgetown men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat in defense of freedom."
