Sugar Land Memorial Park Remembrance Tower

Sugar Land Memorial Park Remembrance Tower

Sugar Land Memorial Park was dedicated in 2007 in honor of veterans from Sugar Land and Fort Bend County, Texas. The entry to the park includes a ring of flags representing all of the branches of the military. The focal point of the park is a 40ft. tall obelisk structure with each wall face representing a branch of the military. The structure was completed in 2013. The size of the wall panel represents the size of each branch in relation to the others ( Army largest followed by Navy, etc.). The names of soldiers from Sugar Land that have perished while on active duty are engraved on the interior wall panels that coincide with the branch in which they served. The monument is set on a peninsula on a lake within the park. A flagpole with the nation's Honor and Remember flag is adjacent to the monument with the engraved names of veterans on pavers provided by their loved ones to honor and remember their service at the base of the flag pole.
