Leonardson Cemetery AEF Monument

The monument was dedicated on May 30, 1920 to honor five Pittsford, Michigan boys who gave their lives for their country in World War I. A committee of townspeople raised the money for the monument. The soldier figure was shipped from Italy through the Throne Monument Company. The American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) was a formation of the United States Army on the Western Front of World War I. The AEF was established on July 5, 1917, in France under the command of Gen. John J. Pershing. It fought alongside French Army, British Army, Canadian Army, and Australian Army units against the German Empire.
