Lilly-Washington Township War Memorial Park

Lilly-Washington Township War Memorial Park

Originally a memorial concerning World War I and World War II, it was greatly expanded in 2015 to include post World War II conflicts and US wars back to the 1848 war with Mexico. It now honors all from the Greater Lilly, Pennsylvania area who died in the service of the United States with a total of 115 servicemen and one member of the Merchant Marines. The expansion includes a bell tower, a Civil War monument and a memory walk. Of note on the memory walk are newspaper articles about Lilly area widow, Esther McCabe, America’s Blue Star Mother. During World War II, Mrs. McCabe gained recognition as the woman with the most children in the armed services. All eleven of her sons served in the military and all of them survived the war.
