Ensign Elliot Wesley Lewis Memorial Stone

Ensign E. Wesley Lewis was born in 1924 in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He graduated from Barnstable High School in 1941. In 1943 he reported to the Naval Reserve in Boston as an aviation cadet. He also trained and graduated from Wesleyan Navy Flight Preparatory School in Connecticut in 1943. In Pensacola, Florida he received his commission and pilots wings. Around the 21-23 of July 1945 Officer Wesley Lewis’s airplane went missing over the Atlantic near New Providence Island while passing through a storm and his name was on the list of officers missing at sea. His memorial is located at the West End Rotary in Hyannis and also at his family memorial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
