Military Order of the Purple Heart Memorial, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

The Military Order of the Purple Heart Memorial is located in Oklahoma City on the east side of the 45th Infantry Division Museum. The monument is a beautiful red granite stone in an area with military equipment, artillery, and static displays of aircraft. On the top of the memorial are the words "Dedicated to all men and women wounded in all our wars". On the left side is the beautiful Purple Heart with the words "Combat Veterans Wounded" on the outside and around the Purple Heart is "Military Order of the Purple Heart 1932". On the right side of the memorial are the words "My stone is red for the blood they shed. The medal I bear is my country's way to show they care. If I could be seen by all mankind maybe peace will come in my lifetime.." On the bottom of the memorial are the words: "Erected by Dept. of Oklahoma Military Order of the Purple Heat". Inside the heart is a profile portrait of George Washington detailed in gold. The heart is topped by George Washington's family crest, a red and white stripped shield topped with three red stars and placed in between green leaves.
