DEDICATED TO THOSE / WHO MADE THE / SUPREME SACRIFACE / SERVING OUR COUNTRY ERECTED BY SETH E. PERRY POST 84, THE AMERICAN LEGION / WITH THE HOPE THAT THEIR NAMES SHALL LIVE FOREVER / GOD REST THEIR SOULS IN PEACE This memorial plaque was placed by the Seth E. Perry American Legion Post. Perry was the only soldier from Pasquotank County believed to have died in combat during World War I. In honor of his sacrifice he was buried on the courthouse grounds when his body was returned in 1921. There are 15 other World War One names on the plaque. It is unknown if any of these men were determined to have died in combat after Perry’s burial in 1921. In the upper right and left corners is the logo for the American Legion.
