2026 National Convention
Bringing together the American Legion Family since 1919
The American Legion National Convention is the organization’s largest annual gathering, uniting members of The American Legion Family to shape the future of the nation’s largest veterans service organization. Each year, national convention delegates convene to approve changes to the Legion’s constitution and bylaws, pass programs that guide the organization’s direction, set membership dues, and elect a national commander and five national vice commanders to serve until the next convention.
Beyond its critical role in organizational governance, the National Convention also delivers meaningful economic and tourism benefits to its host communities. In 2025, the convention brought 7,593 attendees to Tampa, Fla., generating more than $20.8 million in local economic impact and utilizing 15,577 hotel room nights.

100 Years of National Conventions
This Emil A. Blackmore Museum digital exhibit showcases the evolution of national convention commemorative memorabilia over a 100-year timespan through images of badges, convention officials, delegates and distinguished guests wearing them, and national convention program covers. Like the badges, the colorful program covers paid homage to The American Legion’s dedication to supporting soldiers and veterans, honoring fallen soldiers, educating the youth and loyally serving the nation.
