I am Charles R. Marshall, a biographer, who served in the Alaskan Air Command in the Korean War. My support group was assigned to Ladd Air Force Base, Fairbanks, Alaska.

I am a current 30-year consecutive member of The American Legion Post 61,
Sacramento, Ca.

Our families have made their sacrifices, our warriors have answered the call to duty. Here are their bios:

Albert H. Marshall, my father. A combat infantryman, served in the 3rd Infantry in Europe in World War I. He was awarded three campaign stars -- the Battle of the Marne and St. Mihiel and Argonne Forest -- after the armistice was signed. While he was in Paris, he marched through the Arc de Triomphe.

He joined the American Legion in 1919 and was honored with a 50 consecutive year award from Post 51 in Lamoni, Iowa.

My mother was an auxiliary member for over 20 years.

Leslie O. Robinson, my father-in-law, served over 10 years in the U.S. Navy before and during World War II. He was assigned to the USS Melville, USS Bushnell, pre war. His assignment on the USS Henry T. Allen took him to the South Pacific to various locations. He was awarded two campaign stars, the New Guinea and Hollandia operations.

I did not have the honor of meeting this warrior before his passing.

Dennis P Thornton, my son-in-law served in the Tactical Air Command in the Vietnam War.

His support group consisting of F104s and F105s was assigned to numerous bases in Southeast Asia.
