During the American Legion Department of Louisiana Convention held at the Best Western Convention Center in Alexandria from June 8-11, 2023, Commission on Media & Communications Chairman Lynette Blanchard (second from left) and Department Commander Allen Dunn (right) presented the department’s Local Newspaper Award to the Church Point News. The newspaper was recognized for providing the best treatment of American Legion programs and activities in the state of Louisiana. They were nominated for the award by Post 225 from Church Point. Accepting the award for the paper was Post 225 Commander Dennis Hart (left) and Post 225 Adjutant Joe Monroe (second from right).
