The 8th Annual “Hoedown Fundraiser” for the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment’s “Blackhorse Assn. Scholarship Fund” was held at Newport Harbor Post 291 on Saturday, March 9, 2013.
The 65th Regimental CO, COL Lanier Ward and the 20th Regimental CSM Stephen Travers lead the “cavalry charge” from Fort Irwin.

As usual, the event was a sellout with the approx. 250 attendees treated to a great barbecue meal and entertained by the country western band “Swing Shift”.
Approx. $8,000 was raised at the event and the crowd danced until the band quit playing.
