Riders who complete the 2014 American Legion Legacy Run, Aug. 17-21, will have plenty of events to attend upon arriving in North Carolina.
A reception hosted by the Department of North Carolina and North Carolina American Legion Riders will be waiting for the ride at Kings Mountain Post 155 on Aug. 21.
The following day, Aug. 22, the National Convention Riders Meeting, open to all ALR members and interested guests, will take place at the Charlotte Convention Center, located 30 minutes from Kings Mountain. Attendees may join a group ride into Charlotte with reserved parking at the Convention Center. Riders will also receive passes to the Convention Center Vendor Exhibits floor and the Emblem Sales store.
On Aug. 23, the North Carolina American Legion Riders will lead group rides to area attractions, including short trips to Revolutionary War and Civil War battlefields, Cowpens National Park and Kings Mountain National Park. Riders also may choose to take an all-day ride to Tail of the Dragon (Deal’s Gap) in Western North Carolina/East Tennessee.
On Aug,. 24, Legion Riders will continue the tradition of leading off the National Convention Parade.
Legion Riders who don’t have a hotel room in Charlotte are advised to stay in the Kings Mountain/Shelby/Gastonia area, which is only a short distance from convention activities and Post 155.
