Memorial to Heroes of the World War, Pittsboro

The plaque was first placed at the Pittsboro High School built in the early 1900’s. According to the information given by the Chatham County Historical Association, when that building was torn down the plaque came into possession of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars. Eventually it was included in a county history display in the Chatham County Courthouse. In May, 2010 a fire almost destroyed the courthouse but the plaque was not damaged. It was then placed in storage at the Chatham County Historical Society. Efforts are being made to find a new display location.
